Staying at Casa Taos, our home, is a unique opportunity to connect or reconnect to ourselves, each other, the earth and spirit.
Retreat and workshop guests who stay at Casa Taos help cook, clean, and share food.
Pets:
Our dog, "Chaco", is a large Anatolian Shepard mix who loves all people. Unfortunately, we can't allow guests to bring dogs unless they are service dogs. This is primarily because of the coyotes who have taken many pets in the area. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We have added another two friendly dogs and one cat to our family at Casa Taos. We can't wait for you to meet them!
Connection to the Earth:
At Casa Taos we are working towards becoming as self-sufficient as possible and are very intentional about caring for the earth. We recycle, reuse, re-purpose and compost as much as we can and we expect all guest to do the same while visiting.
Please do not bring single use plastic water bottles. We have excellent drinking water and plenty of water bottles and glasses for your use.
We also have chickens and are happy to share our eggs and home grown produce with you while you are at Casa Taos! If you like apples, apricots, or plums, come in the fall to help us harvest and take fruit home with you!
Casa Taos is in the country and not supported by utility services, except for electricity. We have a water well in a drought-stricken area, so it's extremely important that guests help us conserve water. Short showers at half volume are the norm at Casa Taos. Two outdoor solar heated showers offers an experience you must not miss!
The house has free wi-fi, television, and cell phone service.
Communal, not Individual
Both Betty and I come from communal cultures (Latina and Chicano) and have set up our home, Casa Taos, to accommodate folks who are comfortable with sharing space. We do not offer private rooms and bathrooms as do many other retreat centers. Please feel free to request photos and a video of our place.
Contributions to Casa Taos:
To help keep our rates affordable, we ask that people who stay at Casa Taos contribute some work to improve the facilities for all those who follow. It doesn't have to be much work...every little bit helps.
5% of our net proceeds is contributed to Missing and Murdered Women organizations.
Thank you for your participation in this effort.
