- A four-day gathering of Pace e Bene staff.
- From the Pace e Bene Website: http://www.paceebene.org/about/
- Imagine a world with dignity, justice, and peace for all.
- A world with the tools to challenge the spiral of war, poverty and environmental devastation. And a world where we apply these tools to our own lives as well as our larger society. Our mission is to foster a just and peaceful world through nonviolence education, community-building, and action.
- Pace e Bene is bringing that world into being one person, one group, one organization at a time.
- Pace e Bene’s vision is rooted in the spiritually grounded practice of active nonviolence. For Pace e Bene, nonviolence is an effective principle for social change – and a powerful way of life. For two decades Pace e Bene’s unique approach has been transforming lives and reaching people around the globe. Since its founding in 1989, over 30,000 people have taken 700 Pace e Bene workshops to gain tools for more healthy relationships and to create a new society.
- Casa Taos is proud and honored to host this staff retreat.

March 19-22
“Casa Taos Film Festival and Acequia Cleaning”
Part 1: Watch great movies, eat popcorn, have meaningful discussions!!
A. “Schooling the World - The White Man’s Last Burden.”
If you wanted to change an ancient culture in a generation, how would you do it? You would change the way it educates its children. The U.S. Government knew this in the 19th century when it forced Native American children into government boarding schools. Today, volunteers build schools in traditional societies around the world, convinced that school is the only way to a “better” life for indigenous children. www.SCHOOLINGTHEWORLD.org
B. “Colores! Acequia: A PBS Special Documentary”
For centuries, Native Americans of the arid Southwest used a system of ponds and gravity-fed ditches (acequias) to grow crops with the little water they had. When the Spanish arrived in 1598, they were quick to adopt this system, establishing a unique tradition of irrigation and agriculture. Watch the documentary and discuss it with a local Mayordomo and other locals.
C. Additional films to be selected by participants. Send in your nominations today!!
Also happening in Taos at the same time: The 8th annual Taos Shortz Film Festival is an internationally known short film festival and has been buzzed as "the Sundance for short films". http://www.taosshortz.com
Part 2: Cleaning the Acequia
On Saturday, you can work alongside Taosenos to help clean our acequia (irrigation ditch) that supplies local gardens and farms with precious water. This only happens once per year and is a Taos Tradition. Bring a shovel, hat or visor, work gloves and a water bottle. P.S. you don’t have to work all day!
At the end of the day, attend a BBQ at Casa Taos and learn from locals about Taos area cultures. You will still have time to visit the Taos Plaza, Taos Pueblo, Rio Grande Gorge, Ojo Caliente, Chimayo, or other wonders of the world.
Cost: $195 per person for three nights including lodging, five meals, two workshops, time to explore the Taos area and attend portions of the 2015 Taos Shortz Film Festival! This cost is dependant upon ten paying participants. Recruit friends and family to keep the cost down. Don’t forget, stay an extra night at no extra cost for lodging.

Pachamama Journey
in the North
May 21- May 27, 2016
In this first time offering, Weyakpa Najin Win—Woman Stands Shining (Pat McCabe) of Diné (Navajo) Nation—will generously take you through her personal journey, as a way of informing, inspiring your own. Experience the powerful land and sacred practices that awakened, healed, and guided her to be the leader and wisdom keeper she is today.
On this journey, participants will have the unique opportunity to access a critical body of knowledge and wisdom from a teacher and guide who is deeply familiar with both the western traditions of the mind—rationality and academia—as well as the ancient teachings or Original Instructions that have guided all of our ancestors from time immemorial. She is an important bridge and translator of these worlds.
Pachamama Mission
To empower indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth a thriving, just and sustainable world.
Vision
The vision that informs the Pachamama Alliance’s work is of a world that works for everyone: an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet—a New Dream for humanity.
Purpose
Pachamama Alliance, empowered by our partnership with indigenous people, is dedicated to bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet.
Our unique contribution is to generate and engage people everywhere in transformational conversations and experiences consistent with this purpose. We weave together indigenous and modern worldviews such that human beings are in touch with their dignity and are ennobled by the magnificence, mystery, and opportunity of what is possible for humanity at this time.
We are here to inspire and galvanize the human family to generate a critical mass of conscious commitment to a thriving, just and sustainable way of life on Earth. This is a commitment to transforming human systems and structures that separate us, and to transforming our relationships with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.
